No more all-PBA five


MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Basketball Association faces a fight from certain members of its board of governors if it pushes through with the proposal to take another active role in the formation of the national team in the future.
Former PBA chair Ricky Vargas of Talk ’N Text yesterday rejected suggestions to field another PBA-backed RP team in tournaments such as the Asian Games and Fiba Asia.

Maierhofer inks maximum deal with Giants





RICO Maierhofer finally inked a deal with Purefoods Tender Juicy and so did four other Giants.
Maierhofer, the No. 2 overall pick in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Rookie Draft early this month, signed a three-year maximum deal worth P8.5 million on Wednesday night.



PBA looks open to SBP ‘wish list’




BURGER KING team manager Lito Alvarez told the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) to formalize its request to the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) its intention to tap three pros for the Smart-Gilas squad.
The SBP, upon the recommendation of its Serbian consultant and coach Rajko Toroman, wants Jared Dillinger, Japeth Aguilar and Gabe Norwood for the national team.

DLS-Greenhills, Ateneo fives unbeaten


La Salle Greenhills-A and Ateneo scored big victories over the weekend to lead two other squads with unscathed records on top of their respective Small Basketeers Philippines divisions in the SBP-Passerelle twin tournaments at the Xavier School gym.


Amando Emmanuel San Juan III led LSGH-A with 12 points in beating Notre Dame of Greater Manila, 57-42, for La Salle’s third straight win in as many games. La Salle now tops SBP-C while NDGM dropped to 2-1. La Salle Santiago Zobel (1-2) rappped Malate Catholic School (0-3), 53-17, in the other Group C match.
