SBP wants to beef up team with three pros





THE Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) is hoping to get the services of three professional players as it starts building the bridge to London 2012.
Jared Dillinger, Gabe Norwood and Japeth Aguilar, members of the Philippine team that placed eighth in the recent Fiba-Asia Championships in China, are being eyed by the SBP in order to beef up the developmental squad vying for a spot in the 2012 London Olympics.

Cruz OK'd to pursue basketball scholarship abroad


Former CNMI National mainstay Jericho Xavier Setubal Cruz has been allowed to pursue his studies in the Philippines where he had obtained a basketball scholarship, but his criminal case remains pending in the Superior Court.According to court documents, the Office of the Attorney General and Cruz, through his lawyer Bruce Berline, signed an agreement on July 15, 2009, to allow Cruz to continue his studies in the Philippines.

PBA urged to discontinue formation of RP teams


Two members of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) board have urged the pro league to stop forming a national squad to participate in the qualifying events for either the World Basketball Championship or the Olympics.“I believe it’s the responsibility of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (the local governing body for basketball)," Alaska’s Joaqui Trillo told GMANews.TV.
